RCA Engineering, of Harlesden, London NW10

Maker of the Dolphin Yacht engine

1957 Peter Hogan designed a 349 cc twin-cylinder two stroke engine[1]. The RCA engine was originally designed as an air-cooled unit for use in the small Berkeley 3-wheeler car, and later in a motor cycle scrambles machine.

1962/3 The Dolphin Yacht Auxiliary Engine won the British Hydroplane Championships two years in a row.

Late 1970s competition from small Japanese diesels hit sales.

1976 Petition to wind up the company[2]

1978 David Chapman and the original designer of the engine, Peter Hogan, purchased the remains of RCA Engineering from the Receiver and produced engines in small quantities and provided a spares and repair service as Dolphin Engines of Truro.
