Reginald Fitzroy Clayton was born in 1885 and received his education in Germany and at Leeds University.
He obtained his shop training with Saxby and Farmer, Ltd., The British Pneumatic Signal Co., and The International Pneumatic Tool Co.
From 1912 onwards he was Managing Director of Clayton and Co., Ltd., Huddersfield (afterwards Karrier Motors, Ltd.), the well-known commercial vehicle manufacturers, and in addition was a Director of T. S. Motors, Ltd., Maidstone, and of The Thames Valley Traction Co., Ltd.
He died on end August, 1938, at the age of 53.
He was elected an Associate Member in 1912 was transferred to Member in 1918 and served on the Council from 1928 to 1931.
