RENAN ALFRED MARKES received his technical education at the City and Guilds Technical College, London, and was trained in the works of the Lowestoft Motor Company.
Later he joined Messrs. John Chambers and Son, Lowestoft, marine engineers and shipbuilders, where he was engaged on pattern-making, and in the drawing office. He then went to London and joined the London Motor Garage Company as assistant works manager.
After serving in France during the War as a motor driver in the Intelligence Corps, he received his commission in the R.F.A.
In 1919 he entered the drawing office of the Sturtevant Engineering Company, and later became responsible to the chief engineer for the making of fans and steam-heaters, and the design of drying machines.
Mr. Markes was born in 1892.
He was elected an Associate Member in 1921, and died on 8th August 1931.
