1996 Rentokil acquired BET after a hostile take-over bid. The merged company was named Rentokil Initial, by including the name of one of BET's subsidiaries.

c.2000 Rentokil Initial acquired Ratin, whose only business interest was its 32 percent shareholding in Rentokil[1]

2001 Sophus Berendsen sold the last of its shares in Rentokil Initial[2]

In February 2011, Rentokil Initial acquired the Fumigation & Pest Control, Water Treatment & Hygiene and Fire Safety & Prevention businesses of Santia, formerly Connaught, for £5.6m.
