1817 Born in Manchester
1849 Joined the GWR Board
1856 Resigned from the GWR Board
His company made wooden huts for the English and French troops fighting in the Crimea and designed a prefabricated hospital at Renkioi.
1860 Became a Director of the West Midland Railway.
1863 The WMR amalgamated with the GWR and he returned to the GWR Board and was elected as Chairman.
1892 January 1st. Died at Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire
