Received professional training with the late Robert Henderson, M.Inst.C.E., consulting and civil engineer, of Edinburgh. Assistant Engineer on harbour and dock works at various places in Scotland; Civil Engineering Assistant with the Admiralty at H.M. Dockyard, Rosyth, N.B., and at Cromarty, N.B.; Chief Assistant and Civil Engineer, Lancashire County Council, Bridges Department. War Services.—Received commissioned rank in the Royal Engineers, and served in France in 1917 and 1918.
