ROBERT HENRY MORRIS had been engaged in consulting engineering practice in Calcutta since 1912.
He first went to India in 1901 to take charge of the drawing office of Messrs. Burn and Company of Howrah Iron Works, with whom he remained until 1912.
He was born in 1875 at Preston and served his apprenticeship from 1888 to 1894 with Messrs. J. Foster and Sons, Soho Foundry, Preston.
He was engaged for the following four years as draughtsman with Messrs. Ashton Frost and Company of Blackburn, and in 1898 he was appointed head draughtsman by the firm and placed in charge of outside erection and contracts. He remained with Messrs. Ashton Frost until his departure for India.
Mr. Morris was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1904 and was transferred to Membership in 1908.
His death occurred on 17th March 1931.
