Robert Pitt (1818-1886), of Stothert and Pitt

1818 Born in London

c.1834 Joined Henry Stothert as an apprentice

1844 Henry Stothert took his then managing engineer, George Rayno, and Robert Pitt, into partnership; the firm became Stothert, Rayno and Pitt.

1871 Engineer, employing 160 men, and landowner, age 53, living in Widcombe, Somerset, with Selena Pitt 50 and Walter Pitt 18[1]

1879 Joined the IMechE

His son Walter Pitt followed him into the firm
