1890 Robert Winthrop Blackwell moved to the UK

1894 He founded the firm of Robert W. Blackwell and Co, which became a leading firm of merchants, manufacturers, engineers, and contractors.

1895 Gained a contract from the British Thomson-Houston Co. for the construction and electrical equipment of a new tramway in Bristol for the Bristol Tramways and Carriage Co

1900 June. Tramways and Light Railways Exhibition at Islington. Large exhibit of items related to electrically-equipped vehicles and lines including poles, trolleys, insulators, trucks, conduits, fittings and an electric car to carry 53 passengers.[1]
