"ROBERT WILLIAM GORE was associated with the motor industry during almost the whole of his professional career.

He was born in 1891 and received his general education at Bristol Grammar School. After attending Bristol University for his theoretical training in automobile engineering he served his apprenticeship, from 1911 to 1913, in the works of Messrs. Douglas Motors, Ltd., Bristol, in whose employment he continued as manager of the repair department for another year. He then enlisted and served in the Royal Engineers as a despatch rider, later being placed in charge of fleets of motor vehicles at G.H.Q. Signals. On demobilization in 1919 he returned to Messrs. Douglas Motors as experimental and research engineer and subsequently was made manager of the service and repair departments, a position he retained for seven years.

His next appointment was that of engineer to the Mendip Quarry Company, which he held from 1932 to 1935. In 1937 he became a joint proprietor of Gorvin, Ltd., who are proprietors of Brook Motors of Bramshaw, nr. Lyndhurst, Hants, in which he continued to be actively engaged until his death, which occurred on 31st July 1948. Mr. Gore was elected an Associate Member of the Institution of Automobile Engineers in 1927."
