1625: Originally a hunting lodge belonging to the Drummond family, Dukes of Perth, the house was acquired and adapted by Reginald Baliol Brett, 2nd Viscount Esher in 1896

1939 The house began its use as a hotel, taking its name from supposed Roman remains nearby
