1877 Foundation stone laid for the Devon and Exeter Hotel Co for the Rougemont Hotel, Exeter.

Designed by Charles Edwin Ware and constructed by James Matcham of Plymouth. E. Whipple of Plymouth supplied the bell apparatus and gas-fittings, and the lifts were from Waygood and Co, of Leeds, and Garton and King, fitted out the kitchen.

1889 Listed in directory. Manager is T. W. Hussey. Devon and Exeter Hotel Co.[1]
