1909 Company formed to exploit the "Donald" patent elevator for moving bananas from ship-holds.
Post WWI: expanded into warehousing and package handling
WWII: Equipped ordnance factories with conveyers
Post War: developed conveyers for dairies and baggage handling systems for airports
1960 Baker, Perkins acquired the machinery division of builders merchants Rownson, Drew and Clydesdale and renamed it Rownson (Conveyors) Ltd
1964 Formation of Douglas Rownson Ltd together with William Douglas and Sons; moved to Basingstoke.
