1975 British Leyland was formed. The Special Products division was one of the four divisions formed by British Leyland

1975 Acquisition of Marshall-Fowler tractors, to expand Aveling-Barford construction and earth moving equipment in the Gainsborough factory. Presumably formed Aveling Marshall.

1978 BL was reorganised by Michael Edwardes[1] with one of the main divisions being Special Products, renamed SP Industries.

David Abell was managing director; the division included Prestcold refrigeration, Coventry Climax engines, Alvis engines, Aveling-Barford construction equipment; results were expected to be well below plan[2].

1978 Several of these companies were moved to BL Commercial Vehicles
