SS Lord of the Isles
A steamship with this name was built in 1870 by Messrs. R. Napter and Sons, Glasgow.
Messrs. Shaw and Son were the managing owners.
Finding the speed of the vessel insufficient they instructed Mr. Adam Miller to prepare designs for a complete set of new machinery.
Messrs. C. D. Holmes and Co., of Hull were given the contract to upgrade the vessel. A series of illustrations were published in The Engineer in 1879 illustrating the engine and boilers.

Built for the Glasgow and Inverary Steamboat Co by David and William Henderson and Co.
