1842 Born in Sheffield, son of Edwin and Ann Cocker, thus grandson of Samuel Cocker (1790-1841)

1845 His father died in the Isle of Man[1]

1861 Ann Cocker 58, merchant's widow, lived in Sunny Bank, Sheffield, with William Cocker 23, clerk in steel trade, Ann J Cocker 22, Samuel Cocker 19, apprentice in a merchant's[2]

1871 General commission agent[3]

1873 Samuel Cocker, Junior, lived in Sunny Bank, Sheffield[4]

1876 Patent to James Langley and Samuel Cocker the younger, both of Sheffield, in respect of the invention of "improvements in the construction of chairs and rails for tramways and other similar purposes."[5]

1876 Patent to Samuel Cocker the younger, of Sheffield, Agent, in respect of the invention of "improvements in the fastenings of rails for tramways and other similar light railways."[6]
