1904 June. 'Londonderry waggon No. 26. the latest standard commercial tipping waggon turned out by its builders, the Marquis of Londonderry's Seaham Harbour Engine Works, is about to undergo an unprecedented test. This is a trip road, under steam, from Seaham Harbour to London, with a five ton load, in 48 hours, only stopping to pick up water and relays of drivers route. The distance is 300 miles, and it is hoped to maintain a speed of about 6 1/4 miles per hour ail the way'[2]
