1784 'WHEREAS a Person who travelled Through Derbyshire and the adjoining Counties, about Mid-summer last, propagated a Report that Mess. SHORTHOSE and Co. had declined the Patten-Ring Business, whereby their Friends have been imposed on, and themselves materially injured. If any Person will give such Information as may tend to the Conviction of the Offender, he shall receive FIVE GUINEAS Reward.
All Sorts of PATTEN-RINGS and WOOD-SCREWS sold at their Factory, on the lowest Terms of the Trade. Burton-upon-Trent, Oct. 11, 1784.'[1]
