1875 Partnership change. '...the undersigned, Alfred Smedley, Frederick Smedley, James Smedley, John Smedley, and Samuel Smedley, junior, carrying on business together at Belper, in the county of Derby, as Engineers, Boiler Makers, Millwrights, Ironfounders, and Brick Makers, under the style or firm of Smedley Brothers, was dissolved, by mutual consent, on the 31st day of December last, so far as regards the said John Smedley; and that all debts will be paid and all monies received by the said Alfred Smedley, Frederick Smedley, James Smedley, and Samuel Smedley, junior, by whom in future the said business will be carried on, under the said style or firm of Smedley Brothers...'[1]
