1860 Founded by Edwin Smith to produce agricultural implements

1867 Won a prize for a grinding machine at the Royal Agricultural Society's meeting[1]

1869 Edwin Smiths part was bought by George Smith (1841-1918) and his brother Edwin Smith.

1870 Highly commended for hand-powered chaff cutter at the Royal Agricultural Society's meeting.[2]

1886 Won a medal for Smith's patent convertible belt pulley at the Royal Agricultural Society's meeting; this system allowed one pulley to fit different size shafts[3]

1894 Smithfield Club Show. Showed self-oiling loose pulley. (as Smith and Grace of Thrapston) [4]

1900 Issued catalogue of Smith's patents for transmission of power. Contains details on pulleys, screw bushes, gear wheels, shafting, collars, couplings, plummer blocks, hangers, wall boxes and lubricators. Listed as Smith and Grace of Screw Boss Pulley Company of Thrapston.

1912 The Smith and Grace Screw Boss Pulley Co exhibited pulleys at Olympia[5]

1940 Advert for Veeflat drive transmitting over 1,000 hp and handwheels (Smith and Grace of Thrapston) [6]

1945 Advert for the 'Essangee' change-speed unit, a machine tool drive for capstans, lathes, millers, slotters etc. (Smith and Grace) [7]

2000 Smith and Grace Screw Boss Pulley Co was put into Voluntary liquidation[8]
