By 1929 national organisations had been set up, notably the National Smoke Abatement Society
1929 The Coal Smoke Abatement Society and the Smoke Abatement League merged.
1929 The National Smoke Abatement Society was formed with Dr Harold A. Des Voeux, who had been one of the founding members of the Coal Smoke Abatement Society, elected President.
1930 Dr H. A. Des Voeux was president of the National Smoke Abatement Society[3]. The Society's annual meeting was held in Leicester[4]
