1896 Company registered

1906 A thermal storage tank at the Greenwich works exploded[1]

1909 Issue of shares to the public; chairman Henry St. John Winkworth; managing director Henry White Bowden; the company's power station was at Blackwall Point; the company intended to supply electricity to many parts of South London[2]

1918 The County of London Electric Co offered to acquire the shareholders' interests in the South Metropolitan Electric Light and Power Co Ltd[3]

1918 Metropolitan Carriage, Wagon and Finance Co acquired large interests in the South Metropolitan Electric Light and Power Co. and the West Kent Power Co. which would enable it to supply a complete service of electrification for railways, not just carriages. [4]

1923 County of London Electric Supply Co acquired control of the company

1948 Reconstructed Blackwall Point Power Station to produce 90MW[5].

1948 Nationalised[6]
