Team Surtees
1965 John Surtees announced the formation of Team Surtees, a motor car racing team. Initially the cars used would be Lola type 70 with J. Stewart and A. F. C. Maggs as drivers.[1]
1969 Announced a design of Formula 5000 car; made at the Slough base[2]
1970 Entered Formula 1 with his own design of car derived from the Formula 5000.
1970 John Surtees established the Surtees Racing Organisation.
1971 Formula 1 cars built at Edenbridge, including for export[3]
1972 Team Surtees planned a 2-car Formula 2 team for 1972; the Surtees Racing Organisation would be selling a limited number of the new cars to other European countries and a Formula B version would be marketed in the USA[4]
After difficulty finding sponsorship in 1978, the Surtees team folded without ever winning a Formula One race.
