By 1985 owned Carbolite, maker of electric furnaces, and Stanton Redcroft[4]
1985 Acquired Killion Extruders of USA, and Torvac, maker of vacuum furnaces and electro-welders[5]. Acquired Wentgate Engineering of Huntingdonshire, maker of electric vacuum furnaces and electron beam-welders[6]
1986 Acquired Uniplex Corporation of USA; acquired Omnitherm Corporation of Chicago., supplier of thermal analysis equipment.[7]
1987 Acquired Rosand Precision[8] and Ringway Apel of Camberley[9]. Acquired Dartec, maker of destructive testing machines[10]
1988 The company was acquired by TI Group in an agreed offer; TI would dispose of everything except for vacuum equipment and thermal processing activities. It was expected that these would fit with TI's Ipsen Abar subsidiary. Management buyouts were being arranged for some of the other parts of the company; these non-core activities included thermal analysis and flammability equipment, furnaces for laboratories and precision plastics extrusion systems[11]
