Thomas Richard Almond
Born in Uppingham, England, in 1846. Emigrated to USA in 1866. Established himself in Fitchburg as a machinist. Married Eleanor Hortense Tollman. Business moved to Brooklyn in 1875. He was a prolific inventor, and took out many patents. His inventions included the Almond chuck, Almond flexible metallic tubing, Almond turret head tool. <ref>Machinery, v.12, May 1906, p.479).
