1799 Advert: 'HEARTHS FOR BLAST FURNACES.
THOMAS TAYLOR, Iron Founder,
No. 15,Lichfield-Street, Bilston, Staffordshire,
BEGS leave to inform the Proprietors of Blast-furnaces, that he has invented a Composition for hearths, which he has proved to exceed those of Rock Stone, at one third of the expence, and that his Composition Hearths will stand the fire better than any made in the usual way.
The materials for the above, he makes no doubt, on[?] be found in the neighbourhood of any Blast Furnace.
Messrs. Parkers, of Tepton, near Dudley, (who make betwixt 30 and 40 tons of Pig Iron in the week,) will satisfy any application as to the utility of the hearths.
Any commands direded as above, will be duly attended to. [1]
