1953 Formation of Ramo Woodridge Corporation[1] by 2 engineers who had worked at Hughes Aircraft.

1961 Thompson Ramo Wooldridge formed a JV with GEC to market Thompson's industrial process control systems in the UK; Thompson would contribute experience of applying industrial process control in industry; the new company would be called International Systems Control[2]

1964 Acquired Ross Gear and Tool, world's largest maker of hydrostatic steering systems[3]

1965 Thompson Ramo Wooldridge was renamed TRW of Cleveland and Los Angeles[4]
