1836 Advertisement:'STEAM ENGINE, &c, FOR SALE. To be SOLD by PUBLIC AUCTION, on Wednesday, the 30th day of March instant, at the Colliery of Messrs. Thornthwaite, Drewry and Co., situate at ARKLEBY, the County of Cumberland, A Condensing STEAM ENGINE, of Eight Horse Power, by Heslop & Co., together with the Chains, Ropes, and other things thereto belonging. The Sale to commence precisely at Two o'Clock in the Afternoon. Arkleby, 8th March, 1836.'[1]
