1844 November 19th. Born the son of David Rothwell, a Mechanic, and his wife Susey

1861 Living at Greenacres Road, Oldham: David Rothwell (age 39 born Norland), Mechanic Iron. With his wife Lucy Rothwell (age 38 born Sudenden) and their five children; Tom Rothwell (age 16 born Oldham), Mechanic Iron; Fred Rothwell (age 14 born Oldham), Mechanic Iron; Thomas Rothwell (age 9 born Oldham); Mary Jane Rothwell (age 6 born Norland); Martha Ann Rothwell (age 3 born Manchester).[1]

1911 Living at Stones, Delph: Tom Rothwell (age 66 born Oldham), Retired Cycle and Motor Manufacturer. With his five children Alfred Rothwell (age 42 born Oldham), Cycle and Motor Manufacturer - Employer; Alice Rothwell (age 35 born Oldham); Mark Rothwell (age 31 born Oldham). Motor Engineer; Susan Rothwell (age 28 born Oldham); and Andrew Rothwell (age 26 born Oldham), Tool Fitter. Also his sister-in-law Sarah Slater (age 70 born Oldham), Single; his son-in-law Ernest George Johnston Fairnie (age 30 born Kirkham), Schoolmaster; their daughter Mary Fairnie (age 23 born Oldham). One servant.[2]
