1838 Advert: 'TURNER, OGDEN & CO.
Iron and Brass Founders, Engine Builders, and Erectors of Gas Apparatus,
INFORM their Friends and the Public that they have REMOVED their Foundry and Engine Manufactory from School Close to Premises more Commodious, in Hunslet-lane, opposite the Boy and Barrel Inn, where they hope to execute with promptness all Orders conferred upon them.
T., O., & Co. take the present opportunity of thanking their Friends for the very liberal support they have received since commencing Business, and solicit a continuance of their favours.
METALLIC COCKS made upon an Improved Principle, any Size required.
STOVES made for Heating Offices, Shops, and Warehouses.
Planeing executed by Machine, in all its branches.
T., 0., and Co. have TO LET, their old Premises in School Close, with a Five-Horse Engine in good working Condition, with Shafts and Gearing to the same, which are well adapted for a Drysalter, Dyer, or Millwright. For particulars apply as above. Hunslet Lane, Leeds.' [1]
One source noted that they sold two railway locomotives in 1840 but were probably agents[2]. However it has been established that they did build locomotives, the last one possibly being for the York and North Midland Railway in 1841[3]
