Vickers George Beardshaw (1822-1906) of J. Beardshaw and Son

1822 Born in Sheffield the son of George Beardshaw, Saw and File Manufacturer, and his wife Amelia

1851 Living at Western bank, Sheffield: Vickers George Beardshaw (age 28 born Sheffield), merchant. With his wife Emma Anne Beardshaw (age 27 born London) and their three sons; Herbert Beardshaw (age 5 born Sheffield); Joseph Beardshaw (age 4 born Sheffield); and Walter Beardshaw (age 1 born Sheffield). Also his cousin George Buck (age 17 born London), File Maker. One servant.[1]

1861 Living at Attercliffe and Darnall, Vickers G Beardshaw 38, merchant and manufacturer of steel saws, etc, with Emma A Beardshaw 37, Herbert Beardshaw 15, merchants clerk, Walter Beardshaw 11, Edward Beardshaw 9, Annie Beardshaw 6, William F Beardshaw 3, Mary E Beardshaw 1[2]

With his wife Emma Anne Beardshaw (age 47 born London) and their eight children; Joseph Beardshaw (age 24 born Sheffield), File manufacturer; Walter Beardshaw (age 21 born Sheffield), Commercial Clerk (Timber Yard); Edward Beardshaw (age 19 born Sheffield), Commercial Clerk (Railway Company); Annie Beardshaw (age 16 born Sheffield); William Fredk Beardshaw (age 13 born Attercliffe); Mary Emily Beardshaw (age 11 born Attercliffe); Emma Gertrude Beardshaw (age 9 born Attercliffe); and Ernest Beardshaw (age 7 born Attercliffe). The death of Mr. Vickers George Beardshaw, of Spencer Cottage, Putney, occurred on the 22nd inst., at the house of his son, Mr. W. P. Beardshaw, J.P., of "Thornhurst," Clarkehouse-road, Sheffield.

Mr. Beardshaw was the eldest grandson of the founder of the firm of Messrs. J. Beardshaw and Sons Limited, Baltic Steel Works, Effingham-road. Sheffield, with which he had been actively associated for nearly sixty years, and remained a director up to his death.

The firm was established in 1819. Mr. Beardshaw, who left Sheffield to reside at Putney some twenty years ago, was widely known and much respected in Sheffield and district. He reached a ripe old age, having been born on June 22nd, 1822.
