Societe des Mines et Fonderies de Zinc de la Vieille Montagne company of Angleur, Belgium, or ‘VM’ for short.

In 1896 they established a mine an processing plant in the small remote village of Nenthead in the Pennine hills of Cumbria.

1949 VM sold its mineral leases, plant and equipment and left.
