Hedge cutter at Beck Isle Museum

W. Barnard of Bolton Percy, Yorkshire

1892 'The Engineer' reported that Mr W Barnard of Bolton Percy, near Leeds, exhibited Houseman's hedge cutter at the Royal Agricultural Show at Warwick. The article noted that 'It is, however, susceptible of mechanical improvement in design and construction.' [1]

A two-horse hedge cutter very similar to that sketched in the article in The Engineer is displayed at Beck Isle Museum, and a placard records that this came from Bolton Percy (see photo)
