1985 The British Hovercraft Corporation was taken over by Westland

1987 The company was renamed Westland Aerostructures Ltd; hovercraft production ceased.

1988 GKN acquired a majority stake in Westland

1992 Company renamed Westland Aerospace Ltd

1994 Westland became a wholly owned subsidiary of GKN.

1996 Company renamed GKN Westland Aerospace Ltd

2001 GKN Westland Aerospace was renamed GKN Aerospace Services Ltd

2004 The GKN share in the helicopter joint venture was sold to Finmeccanica. GKN retained the Westland Aerospace business, which had a leading edge in aerostructures and composite materials, which became part of GKN Aerospace
