A friendly volunteer-run steam museum located close to the village of Westonzoyland near Bridgwater, Somerset, this museum has a large collection of working steam engines and pumping machinery.
The largest exhibit is an Easton and Amos pumping machine - an early example of a centrifugal pump driven by a two-cylinder steam engine, built in 1861. Along with two dozen other steam pumps and other engines on the site, it can be run on steam from a large Marshall portable boiler. See website for steaming dates.
In October 2016 the Easton & Amos engine was presented with an Engineering Heritage Award by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
Other engines include several 'quick revolution' engines by Belliss and Morcom, Robey, Easton and Johnson and Sissons, and unique surviving examples of horizontal engines made by W. and F. Wills and by J. Culverwell, both of Bridgwater. There are two small de Laval steam turbines by Greenwood and Batley, and an unusual small 'Wessex' steam turbine driving brushes for cleaning milk bottles in a dairy!
