Whittingham and Mitchel, of Putney (sometimes spelt Mitchell), marine and structural engineers.

1921 Established

1929 Private company incorporated to acquire a motor coach and body builder in Fulham[1].

1933 Supplied coachwork for Vauxhall Light Six

WWII Manufactured light alloy components, including parts for the De Havilland Mosquito [2]

Postwar: moved to Byfleet; specialised in light alloy marine equipment including boats.

1956 Moved to Chertsey

1963 Supplier of prefabricated units for the building industry[3].

1964 Public company[4]; two-thirds of business was small ships, constructed in an unusual way at Chertsey; a subsidiary, Robinson Formings Ltd, had been located at North Hayling to allow expansion at Chertsey; the other part of the business was thermoplastic mouldings, such as for kitchens; novel combined kitchen/bathroom units were to be supplied to the Barbican development in London.

1964 Woods of Colchester took over the company[5].
