1972 Obituary [1]

Wilfred Cowen Vickers (Fellow) died on Feb 27. Born in August 1925, Mr Vickers studied and received his degree at Glasgow University and his professional training was obtained with Alex Stephen and Sons and William Denny and Brothers, shipbuilders and marine engineers. He served in REME as a Lieutenant Workshops Officer during 1946-49 and later became a Draughtsman, engaged on gas turbines at Ruston and Hornsby Limited, rising to Chief Engineer, Gas Turbines.

His knowledge and experience in the field of turbines and compressor design (which in later years he put to good use as a Consultant) will be greatly missed throughout the profession.
