WILLIAM ARTHUR HARRISON was born in Manchester, and served his time there with the late firm of Messrs. Lewis and Sons.

He then went to the Crewe Works; and afterwards returning to Manchester was with the firms of Messrs. E. T. Bellhouse and Co. and Messrs. Peel Williams and Peel, until he joined Mr. James Allen, thus forming the firm of Messrs. Allen Harrison and Co., Cambridge Street Works, Manchester.

Of this firm he was a member for twenty-seven years, up to the time of his death, which occurred at his residence, Oakfield, Hale, Cheshire, on 23rd February 1884, at the age of fifty-four.

He became a Member of the Institution in 1865.
