WILLIAM BARROW TURNER, born 29th August, 1840, at Grange, Lancashire, died at Ponsonby Hall, Cumberland, 23rd October, 1916.
Having served his pupilage from 1856 to 1860 under Mr. Edward Wadham, M.Inst.C.E., he was then made Assistant, and in 1864 became a partner in the firm.
He became managing partner of one of the largest haematite mines in Cumberland and a director of the Furness Railway Company, the Cleator and Workington Railway Company, and the Beckermet Mining Company.
He was elected an Associate Member 15th May, 1866, and transferred to the class of Members 16th January, 1877.
