c1801 Born at Birmingham

1834 Listed in Hampstead Row, Handsworth as 'Barrows, Wm., Merchant' [1]

1850 Listed as 'Barrows, William, iron master, Dixon's Green, Dudley' [2]

1851 Living at Springfield House, Dixon's Green, Dudley (age 50 born Birmingham), an Ironmaster. With his wife Martha (age 47 born Tipton) and their children Thomas (age 24 born Handsworth), an Ironmaster; and Joseph (age 22 born Handsworth), an Ironmaster. Also Walter Welch (age 21 born Birmingham) a Currier and WB's nephew. Four servants. [3]

1861 Living at Himley House, Staffs (age 60 born Birmingham), an Ironmaster. With his wife Martha (age 58 born West Bromwich). Plus a visitor and four servants. [4]

1863 December 10th. Died at Stafford Railway Station. Sole proprietor of Bloomfield Ironworks which until recently was Barrows and Hall. He also owned the Factory Works and the Tipton Green Furnaces. Director of the Birmingham Banking Co. His son William is Colonel of the 4th Battalion of the Staffordshire Rifle Volunteers and his son Joseph is Captain of the Tipton Rifles. [5]
