William Bernard Shurrock was born in 1893, and studied at the Birmingham Technical School, his apprenticeship being served with Wolseley.
During the whole of his subsequent career he remained with the firm, first as Laboratory Assistant in the Experimental Department, and later in charge of the Physical Laboratory.
The most important of his activities were in connexion with the late Mr. A. A. Remington's publications on valves, road springs, etc., and he carried out extensive investigation in respect to acceleration and springing.
He was a past member of the Local Committee. His interests were wide, and ranged from Cycling and Mountaineering to Metallurgy.
He died on 6th May, 1933, at the age of 39.
He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution of Automobile Engineers in 1920.
