WILLIAM BUTLER WHITAKER, born at Nottingham in 1840, died at Blackheath on the 3rd February, 1911.
Trained in gas engineering under the late Mr. B. Wheeler, of Nottingham, he successively held charge of gasworks at Bombay, Donnington Park, Belper and Buenos Aires, retiring in 1897 and returning to England in 1900.
Mr. Whitaker was elected an Associate Member of The Institution on the 5th December, 1882, and was transferred to the class of Members on the 5th May, 1896.
