1967 Obituary [1]

Mr WILLIAM H. H. GIBSON (Member) died on 25th March.

Mr Gibson was a graduate of the University of Sydney where he later became Senior Lecturer and then Reader in Mechanical Engineering, a position he held until his retirement in 1957.

He devoted himself mostly to lecture and laboratory work relating to heat engines, carrying out a number of investigations for Government authorities. From 1939 to 1960 he was Chairman of the Directors of the Sydney firm of Gibson, Battle and Co. Ltd and for 36 years was Chairman of the Australian Advisory Committee of this Institution. He was also Councillor, Chairman and in 1953 President of the IEA.

Mr Gibson will be sadly missed by his many friends and associates.
