William Henry "Harry" Dutfield (1908-1999) of Axminster Carpets

1908 Born in Glasgow the son of John Herbert Dutfield

1911 Living at 1 Brindley St, Stourport: John Herbert Dutfield (age 33 born Broadwater), Carpet Designer. With his wife Janie Scott Dutfield (age 30 born Broughton Ferry) and their son William Henry Dutfield.[1]

1929 Set up a carpet-making business in Kidderminster with his friend Quayle

1937 Established Axminster Carpets Ltd in Axminster after a chance meeting on a train.

1939 Living at Levens, Sidmouth Road, Lyme Regis, Managing Director of Axminster Carpets. With Daisy Dutfield (born 1911).[2]

1950 Established Buckfast Spinning to make and dye wool for carpet manufacture

Involved in the established of Marlin Carpets in New Zealand

1976 Introduced the Drysdale sheep into Britain

Continued to be involved with Axminster Carpets as its chairman

1999 Died, age 90[3]
