1861 Thomas W Panton 53, iron manufacturer, employing 48 men and 9 boys, lived in South Bishop Wearmouth, with Anne Panton 46, Hugh Panton 20, pupil to his father, William H Panton 18, pupil to his father, Charles E Panton 16, Annie L Panton 14, Frederick S. Panton 11, Marion E Panton 9[2]

1871 T W Panton 64, public accountant, lived in Sunderland with Anne Panton 57, Wm Henry Panton 27, iron merchant, Fredric S Panton 21, mining engineer, Annie S Panton 24, Marion E Panton 19[3]

c.1872 Started work at Stockton Forge as general manager
