1809 January 9th. Born in Newport Pagnell, Bucks, the son of Thomas Tilley and his wife Elizabeth

1851 Living at 4 Edward Street, Shoreditch: William Tilley (age 42 born Newport, Bucks), Gas Fitter. With his wife Mary Tilley (age 52 born Rufford?, Northants.) and their three sons; Thomas Tilley (age 19 born Shoreditch), Gas Fitter; William Tilley (age 17 born Shoreditch), Gas Fitter; and John Tilley (age 11 born Shoreditch).[1]

1861 Living at 4 South Place, Hackney: Elizabeth Tilley (age 78 born Newport Pagnell), Fund Holder. With her son William H. Tilley (age 52 born Newport Pagnell), Gas Fitter, and her grandson John C. Tilley (age 21 born Shoreditch), Clerk. One visitor and one servant.[2]

1867 December 29th. Died, of 4 South Place, Dalston, Gas Fitter. Probate to his sons Thomas Henry Tilley, of 15 Newton Street, Hoxton, Gas Fitter; William Henry Tilley, of 53 Kingsland Road, Gas Fitter; and John Cooper Tilley, of 17 Brownlow Road, Dalston, Merchant Clerk.
