1913 Obituary [1]

WILLIAM KIRKIP died at his residence at San Julian de Masques, near Povena, Spain, on May 3, 1913.

He commenced in business with the Consett Iron Company, and in January 1890 took a position as draughtsman with the Orconera Iron Ore Company, Ltd., Bilbao. He afterwards became surveyor to the Company, and was subsequently appointed Permanent Way Inspector.

During the last three or four years he was in charge of the Company's washing plant at Povefia, near Bilbao, where some 200,000 tons of iron ore are produced from the washings of old rubbish tips and lean small ores.

Mr. Kirkip was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1901.
