WILLIAM MICKLEWRIGHT was born at Harborne, Birmingham, on 16th April 1850.
He was educated at a local school and began in 1863 an apprenticeship of seven years with Messrs. James Watt and Co., Soho Foundry, Birmingham. On its completion in 1870 he remained with the firm for ten years, being engaged in the erection of machinery in different parts of the country.
In 1880 he was appointed works manager to the Credenda Tube Co., Birmingham, and held this post until 1894, when he became works manager for Messrs. John Russell and Co., Alma Tube Works, Walsall.
In June 1901 he went to Russia to superintend the laying down of a tube plant for the Government, and on his return he became chief engineer for Messrs. James Russell and Sons, Crown Tube Works, Wednesbury.
This post he held until the time of his death, which took place at Wednesbury on 31st January 1916, in his sixty-sixth year.
He was elected a Member of this Institution in 1898.
