1851 Living at North Wing, Reform House, Exeter: William Munk (age 58 born Appledore, Kent), Ironmonger. With his wife Elizabeth Munk (age 48 born Newington, Surrey) and their five children; Sarah Munk (age 24 born Honiton); Ellen B. Munk (age 22 born Honiton); Emily Munk (age 19 born Honiton); Edwin Munk (age 17 born Honiton), Assistant Ironmonger; and Julia Munk (age 14 born Honiton). Two servants.[2]
1879 Died. 'A venerable Citizen departed this life on Tuesday, when Mr. William Munk, wholesale ironmonger, died at the age 86. He was a staunch member of the Liberal Party all his life, and came to Exeter forty years ago from Honiton to meet the claims a growing business. His rectitude of character, and personal respectability gained for him universal esteem, and carried his age well to a very short time before his demise. His business has for several years been carried on by his worthy son. Another son, Dr. Munk, is physician, of London, of eminence, and renowned for literary work in his profession.'[3]
