Also known as Sutton Bill or Roby Bill to distinguish from his cousin of the same name.

William Pilkington (1827–1903), eldest son of William Pilkington, began his working life in the family glass works, Pilkington, and eventually became partner in 1844, followed by his brother Thomas in 1853
